Portugal Economic Sentiment Indicator Stable In July

Portuguese economic sentiment indicator logged 0.1 in July, unchanged from June, a report by the Statistics Portugal showed on Thursday. A year earlier, indicator was minus 1.7.

The confidence indicator on manufacturing industry rose to minus 12.2 in July from minus 12.7 in the previous month. The indicator was minus 25.8 a year ago. Similarly, the services confidence improved to minus 8.4 from minus 8.7 in June.

The confidence indicator on trade dropped to minus 2.7 in July from minus 2.1 in the preceding month. Of which, confidence indicator on wholesale trade fell to minus 4.4 from minus 3.2 in June, while indicator on retail trade slipped to minus 1.5 from minus 1. But, the confidence indicator on construction and public works rose to minus 39.9 from minus 41.4 in June.

Meanwhile, the consumer confidence indicator dropped to minus 42 in July from minus 40.1 in the previous month. A year earlier, the confidence indicator was minus 39.3.
